Jesus added, “…it is the thought that pollutes. For from within, out of man’s hearts, come evil thoughts of lust, theft, murder, adultery, wanting what belongs to others, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, pride and all other folly. All these vile things come from within, they are what pollute you and make you unfit for God.” — Mark 7:20-23 (TLB)
WOW, talk about putting it on the line. Jesus just lays it out there for us to see what must be done to draw closer to God. And sins are going to keep us from God. Why? Jesus said it outright: If you have these things in your mind you are not fit for God. This is why it is so important to control our thoughts. Without God we cannot receive divine healing. He is the great physician. He is the creator of our bodies, and He knows more about them than we know. He knows how many hairs are on our heads. He knows everything and there is nothing we can keep from Him. Our thoughts must be made pure to be close to God and receive divine healing.
The Lord detests the thoughts of the wicked, but those of the pure are pleasing to him. — Proverbs 15:26
The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace. — Romans 8:6
God hates the thoughts of the wicked, and for those who choose evil thoughts, the result is death. That shows us how important it is to control our thoughts and think purely, which is pleasing to God. Then He will give life and peace.
Continue to examine your thoughts and think about anything that is not pure and pleasing to God. It is important you remove those things that are displeasing to God if you want Him to deliver a healing miracle. God is a God of laws and order. He loves us more than we can even conceive, but He cannot lie and He cannot break His Word.
Cleaning your thoughts is like cleaning house. You can start with the fluff cleaning; just running the duster across the furniture and the vacuum through the walkways. But when it comes to really cleaning, you have to move the furniture and clean all under it. You have to polish it with oil. You have to clean all the nooks and crannies to have a clean house. This is what you are doing now with your thoughts. Get your thoughts aligned with the Word of God and your life will become aligned with God.
When in crisis we need more of God and we must get rid of all that is displeasing to God. We need to draw closer to Him and receive His blessings. Search in the recesses of your mind. Shine the light back into the dark corners and see what has been hiding there. You know, those things you have forgotten about. If you have jealousy in your heart, if you have resentment hidden back there from years ago, if you have any of those sins mentioned in this lead scripture, you must let go of all that stuff. Those old grudges, hates, and resentments are like old friends. They validate we were hurt and have a right to be angry, but those old negative companions keep us from the miracles God has waiting. Is it really worth it to hold on to them? Are they still serving you well? Isn’t it true, you really want to let them go so you can move on?
These are the thoughts that make us sick, and steal our health. It is now time to do inner soul searching, to discover these deep hidden thoughts which may have been festering for years. Let them go and you will allow the healing process to begin.
We are going to discuss in the upcoming weeks how to release them and become pure of heart.
